Categories that need a licence first
These are not blocked. They need documentation before approval, and some carry a rolling reserve.
Regulated financial services
Lending, insurance distribution and investment advice — approved only with the relevant licence.
Real-money gaming
Subject to state law, which varies. Approval depends on category, jurisdiction and licensing.
Pharmacy and healthcare
Requires valid drug licences and, where applicable, practitioner registration.
Travel and ticketing
Higher chargeback exposure. Usually approved with a rolling reserve.
Cross-border and forex
Requires the appropriate authorisation under FEMA and RBI rules.
Charities and NGOs
Requires registration, and FCRA registration where foreign contributions are involved.
Worth knowing
This list is not the whole list
Every payment aggregator sits on top of a sponsor bank, and that bank maintains its own negative list. It is longer than this one, it is contractual, and it changes. Where the two differ, the stricter applies to you.
We would rather decline you at onboarding than approve you and freeze your settlements three months later when the bank catches it. If your category is anywhere near a line on this page, tell us before you apply and we will give you a straight answer.
